My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I’ve been rereading some books on audio while I’m at work. So I thought It might be nice/fun to review those books since I didn’t when I first read them. So I think one a week I’ll be reviewing a book I’ve reread and for a little while at least I’ll be featuring Karen Witemeyer.
So this book starts off not slow but almost slow…does that make any sense lol! I love Adelaide, She loves to read, loves her horse and interacts so well wit both Gideon and Isabella. Izzy as Adelaide calls her is a sweet little girl whose life has been wrought with pain….I really enjoyed watching Addie bring her out of her shell and help her act like a little girl again!
And Gideon!!! how often does a son of a Duke become a sheep herder? But he fits in to the ranch well and I enjoyed seeing him as the sheep herder by day and a British Aristocrat by night.
Karen’s Writing draws you pretty quickly and keeps you wanting more until the very end and even though you’ll miss the characters and story you aren’t left feeling like you wanna cry cause the books over…With this one especially you close the book with a smile on your face!
Adelaide Proctor is a young woman with her head in the clouds, longing for a real-life storybook hero to claim as her own. But when a husband-hunting debacle leaves her humiliated, she interviews for a staid governess position on a central Texas sheep ranch and vows to leave her romantic yearnings behind.
When Gideon Westcott left his privileged life in England to make a name for himself in America’s wool industry, he never expected to become a father overnight. And five-year-old Isabella hasn’t uttered a word since she lost her mother. The unconventionality of the new governess concerns Gideon–and intrigues him at the same time. But he can’t afford distractions. He has a ranch to run, a shearing to oversee, and a suspicious fence-cutting to investigate.
When Isabella’s uncle comes to claim the child–and her inheritance–Gideon and Adelaide must work together to protect Isabella from the man’s evil schemes. And soon neither can deny their growing attraction. But after so many heartbreaks, will Adelaide be willing to get her head out of the clouds and put her heart on the line?
